General
information concerning S.P.A.Y:
S.P.A.Y. was founded in 1989. Our tax identification number is
57-0933622. We have a 501(C)(3) status. Our state registration
number is 1610.
Our main purpose is to give financial aid to pet owners to reduce
the cost of having their pets altered. We are active in four
counties: Colleton, Charleston, Berkeley, and Beaufort.
We have a limited foster care program. We prefer to offer
individuals with rescued strays free spays/neuters, shots and
necessary medications in return for their fostering and feeding the
animals until a good new home can be found. This has been a very
successful approach to rescued pet placement. In addition, we
operate a feral cat trap/spay/neuter/return program, and organize
cat spay/neuter clinics.
To-date we have assisted with altering thousands of owned or rescued
pets, and have been able to find new homes for several hundred.
Funds are raised with yard sales, consignments and occasional
auctions, direct mail solicitation, special events, foundation
grants and a bingo parlor. All of our associates are volunteers.
To make a donation, please call or mail to address above. A receipt
for your tax records will be mailed to you immediately.

A Message from Eileen...
Hello!
My name is Eileen Newton and I am a realtor with Palmetto Real
Estate in Port Royal, S.C. I have lived in Beaufort for over
twenty-five years and have been in real estate for six years. Prior
to my real estate career, I worked and volunteered in non-profits. I
love giving to others and receive great satisfaction when I am able
to assist others who are less fortunate than I am.
My mother, Helga Hiott, operates an animal charity called S.P.A.Y.,
Inc. Her charity organizes and subsidizes cat spay/neuter clinics in
Beaufort in cooperation with Dr. Henry of The Animal Hospital of
Beaufort. S.P.A.Y. also helps alter feral cat colonies with care
givers unable to afford the cost of altering the cats. This, as well
as the inexpensive cat spay/neuter clinics, are ongoing projects.
In an effort to give back to my community and to assist my mother
with her fundraising efforts, I am offering a creative way for
non-profits and individuals to raise funds for their charities. Here
is how the plan works:
If anyone uses me to purchase or sell their property and comes to
me, either being referred directly by a non-profit or because they
desire that I donate to their qualified “charity of choice,” I will
donate 12.5% of my earned commission to their chosen qualified
charity and another 12.5% will go to my mother’s charity, S.P.A.Y.
Of course, if someone chooses S.P.A.Y. as their chosen charity,
S.P.A.Y. will get the full 25% donation.
Non-profits simply need to spread the word about this opportunity to
their board members, employees, friends, families and anyone else
that they deem may be interested in earning funds for them through
this program. Once I have been contacted by either the individual,
non-profit or by the person referred, my office will obtain
immediate confirmation of the 501(C)(3) status of that non-profit.
When the sale or purchase is complete, the donation will be made to
the non-profit and/or S.P.A.Y. within 48 hours after receipt of my
commission (which occurs the day after closing).
If you have any questions or would like further clarification of
this opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please feel
free to copy the enclosed flyer as your means of communicating this
exciting opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you!
